The MAMBO Chairs

The Mambo Chairs have finally landed!

This year we will be releasing one new chair design a month to show off the creative breadth of our work. Each chair draws on differing inspiration, from steam bending techniques to the sculptural form, re-imagining the everyday dining chair in our own style. Each piece is fused with traditional joinery for structural integrity, a refined aesthetic and ergonomic proportions which vary to suit differing needs.

Inspired by the 80's and 90's MAMBO clothing brand, the Mambo chairs are a playful exploration of sculptural design. Their chunky aesthetic is paired with a refined, hand carved form.  Each chairs shape is organic and will vary slightly every recreation. The structural integrity is enforced with large mortise and tenon joinery, pinned in place with timber dowels.

As a furniture maker, working on a collection of chairs is somewhat the pinnacle of my career. The depth of knowledge and skill needed to marry the ergonomics, structural integrity and aesthetics has taken me years to acquire, and I am more excited then ever to share these with you and to see what comes next. It took a year of sketching and a year of prototyping and I am so glad we’re finally here!

Check out the article Green Magazine put together to read more about the cultivation of this collection and to get a sneak peak into the chairs being released in February and March.
