The Zephyr Chair and Brayer Table

I am so stoked to finally introduce the Zephy Chair and Brayer Table. Both of these beauties are hand crafted from Tasmanian Blackwood in our Mullumbimby workshop in Northern NSW.
I have always found sculptured solid timber dining chairs fascinating and was inspired to use a different construction technique to craft the Zephyr Chair. I included the challenge of making this piece stackable, a design function that increases its usability in a range of commercial applications.
The chair is assembled in parts, enabling it to be pre-shaped before it is hand carved once assembled, this method creates a stronger construction and visually appealing joinery. It’s always difficult to imagine the finished piece when it comes to designing work that has such organic form, but when the dust settled, we were pretty happy with the result.
The Brayer Table was more of a collaboration of ideas with my wife Hana. I refer to Hana with most of my work though in this case the finish piece is more of a reflection of her aesthetic sensibility, with direction in joinery and craft by myself.
I only design work that I want to take home, and in this case, the Brayer Table was created to share meals around with my own family. It has been tried and tested and we love it. I hope you do to.
