Crafted perfection - The Mia Chair
For the fourth chair to be released in our new collection, we welcome The Mia Chair. This design saw many adaptations on the sketch pad before being refined in CAD and on the shop floor. I had been inspired by the differing ways other makers had experimented with Danish cord, and was excited at the idea of this not only being an aesthetic design element but also intrinsic to the ergonomics of the chair.
Two prototypes frames and days of weaving and re weaving later the Mia Chair finally stood before me. I am always so inspired in the chasing of an idea - it leaves a wanting, a gentle scent in the air which begs to be followed, to be understood. The elation once its full potential has been reached, after it has been observed and evaluated, refined and resolved before emerging in its entirety in front of me, this is the great joy of my work.
The meditation behind this collection of chairs was to explore my craft thoroughly, thus the designs and styles vary widely. Each piece may not speak to everyone, nor should it. Rather they will seek out those who are called to it and speak directly to them, in a language beyond words, only known when it is felt. It is in this intimacy that the true value of any object is found, and the essence of the work I wish to share with you.
